David sees himself as fortunate that what he’s most passionate about is also what he does for a living. He did his TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) training, receiving his Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University and his massage training through the Brenneke School of Massage. His clinical residency was finished in Shanghai, China, completing shifts in internal medicine, psychiatry and trauma. In pursuit of a deeper level of growth and healing, David embarked on the journey of a second system of Chinese Medicine – Five Element Acupuncture, studying in Portland, OR (with David Ford, L.Ac) and San Francisco, CA (with Khosrow Khalighi, L.Ac) for an additional three years of study. He has taught meditation/qigong classes at Starbucks Corporate Offices, Embrace the Moon School for Taijiquan and Qigong, Center of the Universe Network Care, Bastyr University, and Seattle Kajukenbo. He lectures regularly on various topics such as five-element acupuncture, stress management, chronic pain, meditation, and more.
David is a Zen Buddhist having practiced in both the Japanese and Korean traditions of Zen and teaches meditation/qigong at several venues around Seattle, including Starbucks Corporate Offices. He’s had the good fortune of training in Tai-Qi and Qigong with such extraordinary teachers as Kim Ivy and Zen Master Ji Bong, while also training in various other martial arts such as kajukenbo, wing-chun kung fu, and arnis/escrima. Chinese medicine, Zen practice, and martial arts have been the greatest gifts to come into David’s life. The integration of the three has been an incredible experience, and he possesses a true passion for sharing what he’s learned along the way with those who are interested.
